Specialties

Anomaly specializes in Professional Body Piercing, especially surface piercing and single point (microdermal) surface work, and genital piercing; although we have tons of experience with more “standard” piercings as well. We only stock the finest internally threaded implant grade jewelry and prefer to use titanium as our standard over steel. We also have a full service Hair and Makeup Salon whose Design Team has helped create many magazine cover photos, runway fashion shows holiday cards, and film and theatrical productions. Our Salon exclusively uses JOICO products, the same used by American Idol stylist Dean Banowetz and many of the winners of the television show Shear Genius. We showcase local and independent designer clothing and fine artwork as well. Don’t forget to keep us in mind for your exotic body jewelry needs as well, we import many authentic and replica indigenous designs.

History

Established in 2007

Anomaly’s Echo Park location was established as a sister shop to our original Pasadena store. We wanted a chance to help our LA clients cut down on some of their travel distances, while still remaining close enough to Pasadena to successfully be involved in both locations. Our initial Echo Park location was next door to American Apparel and huge. We quickly found out that keeping such a huge space just made the shop feel empty. After the first year we moved the business down a few doors into a much more intimate location. It was important that we stay in the same neighborhood to maintain the relationships with the clients we made in our first year there, and we really became quite attached to the block we where we were located. you can find us a little closer to Mohawk Street than before, right beside the empty theater.

The shop is definitely a little hard to find – it’s just east of the American Apparel and Elf Cafe on the north side (same side) of the street. ?Just keep walking a few doors down…Brett is great. ?He really knows his stuff. ?Not to mention creative. ?There’s no rush at all; it’s just relaxed and fun. ?Well, I guess a little painful, but that’s a given. ?The shop is incredibly clean and has a fair amount of jewelry. They’re still setting up the new space, so expect more art and jewelry and stuff in the near future.
After posting my last review, I noticed it said closed. Anamoly has actually just moved down the block to a smaller location. Please check out my review:On Saturday, I decided that I wanted new jewelry for my ears. I have 10/12 gauge holes and wanted some horn earrings. Based on a few good friends’ recommendations sterling silver beads, I headed over to Anomaly. First off the place is pretty impossible to find–I had to ask the people at American Apparel where the place was and I still couldn’t find it. So I called 411 from my cell and got a disconnected number, but found them by the address that was texted to my phone. Look for the studded bags in the window is my suggestion and possibly the easiest way to find this place. But once I got inside, it was worth the adventure.Annie, the shop owner and hair stylist, waited on me and she was very pleasant and helpful, two things you rarely find with people who are supposed to provide customer service these days. And, there was no pressure to buy. I needed up buying 2 stellar pairs of horn earrings for only $55 (one pair was a last run on sale for $20). The only downside was the piercers don’t work Friday and Saturday (just for the summer). I had a hard time getting one pair in, but I will just go back another day.Besides the piercing and jewelry, they also have clothing and other cool stuff. I’ll have to look at these other things another day, because I was on a mission that day. I’m glad they are in the Silver Lake/Echo Park area so I don’t have to head West for my piercing and/or jewelry needs anymore. So, go check them out but come armed with their address.
Came here to get my left tragus pierce. ?Price was above average, but this is definitely the place to get pierces & tattoo done. ?They amused me with their extremely thorough sanitizing! ?My piercing artist was Monique and she’s amazing! ?All I can say is, this place is worth the price.
Why is this place always closed?! ( along with most shops in Echo Park and Silverlake )
trust is something you should absolutely always establish with people like your: auto mechanic, dentist, doctor ?- girls, you’re gyno.. but i’m including these guys too. ?by far the safest, cleanest, most informed body piercers. ?i’ve had 9 of my 11 piercings done by the folks at anomaly (they made nape piercing and lobe stretching a breeze) now i will no longer turn to anyone else for a hole in my body ever again, nor will i allow anyone i know to venture elsewhere or **gasp** god forbid, be pierced by a gun. ?their piercers are APP certified (association of professional piercers) – which means they’re actively working to raise the standards in the pierce community through education and the use of high quality, safe products.they’re also hooked up in the jewelry department- ?tons of different styles for different tastes- and quite often have sales to satisfy even the most shallow of pockets.

I would buy a diamond or ‘colored gem stone’ as I think they arecalled from Tamir within a second, if I had excess $ or felt I couldindulge myself at this time. ? He comes from a family of people whoknow their diamonds and he specializes in the most beautiful coloredstones I’ve ever seen. BUT MORE IMPORTANT, I think he gives younot only what you ask for Silver Jewelry, but his gems seem to me to be of goodvalue. AND he does not try to ‘sell’ you something you don’t want.I’m used to fast talking folk who make me feel as if I’m possiblydealing in ‘blood jewels Body Jewelry,’ but not Tamir. And he’s cute and young, too.

Love this place! Farid and his wife are the best and will always work hard to help you find the right jewlery! My husband and I bought our wedding bands here, my engagement ring and my cross. We are also always sending our friends to this place! So far our friends have bought 2 engagement rings and diamond earrings and they all had positive things to say! Thanks Farid and see you soon Wedding Jewelry!
General Diamonds did a fantastic job helping me find the right ring for the right price. Farid is very reasonable and knowledgable. They will help you with price since that is a major concern when buying a ring. I knew the bare minimum about diamonds when I came in and he knew just what I was looking for without me having to say a lot. I highly recommend that if you’re thinking about buying an engagement ring, or any kind of jewelry, you head down here. Parking can be difficult, but it’s worth it if you want a fair deal. And if you are thinking about using Robbins Brothers, don’t. Use them to get an idea of what your fiance wants, then go here to get it at half the price. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that they don’t do financing, so have money saved or a credit card ready. But considering that you will be charged twice as much to finance, this is the way to go.
[Written by my husband]I bought my fiancee’s engagement ring here and we later went back for our wedding bands as well. I first came across General Diamonds after a friend had mentioned he had a good experience with purchasing an engagement ring there and decided to make the trip up from San Diego.I didn’t know much about diamonds, but it didn’t matter. The owners went over every aspect of a diamond and how the variables really come together. Most jewelers just show you only what you ask to see (especially true of the chain stores I visited), but the owners here let me see a range of diamond qualities just to better illustrate the differences between grades to help me make a much more informed decision. Farid and Aida (the owners) were incredibly helpful, but above all they were honest.Of course, the greatest thing about my experience was the price. Nowhere else would I be able to get the quality of ring I did at the price the owners gave me.The whole experience was amazing: great quality diamonds at a price far better than any other jeweler and owners that have great advice on what to look for in each diamond to ensure you get what you want and not what they think you should buy. I took my brother-in-law to them on Christmas Eve so he could purchase his engagement ring from them as well and they were able to build him the ring he wanted in a single day so that he could propose on Christmas Day – that type of custom ring service over the holidays won’t be found anywhere else. I don’t intend to ever go to another jewelry store.
When my fiance proposed to me he decided to let me pick out the ring of my choice. Well the hunting for ‘the ring’ took us a good 2 and a half weeks of walking into store after store. We started out with the well known stores like Robins Brothers, Jewelry Exchange of Tustin, Zales…Each one of them had ridiculous prices and policies on the tiniest carat diamond rings. Just as I was ready to give up CZ Jewelry, I searched online and found Hill St’s jewelry district. What is funny is that when I yelped Hill St Jewelry stores this place did not pop up. As good as all the other jewelry stores on Hill St were, they didnt have the service, selection and prices that General Diamonds can offer. Aida was just so welcoming right from the first moment we stepped into the store. While at first glance, I didnt think there would be much of a selection there (compared to a store like Robbins Bros), I was surprised. They have quite a selection-plus every ring of theirs is so pretty. Once I picked the ring I LOVED, Farid and Aida showed me the official certification on the diamonds. Aida made sure we looked threw the little scope at our rock, so we would know its minute imperfections listed in the certification. General Diamonds was by far the best place I shopped at. I will be sure to be coming back to this store for al my jewelry needs. Thank you Farid and Aida. I absolutely LOVE my ring.
I was shopping around for an engagement ring, I wanted to surprise my girlfriend. I tried the malls, but there prices were out there, so a friend suggested the jewelry district in downtown. Went to a few places Cubic zirconia jewelry, but I wasn’t happy with the stuff that I saw. I wanted something spectacular and I wanted a piece with quality. I found it at general diamonds. Aida and Farid were the nicest couple to work with, they had a great selection of rings, and they also had a great selection of quality center stones. I saw a ring I fell in love with and I was pretty sure my girlfriend would fall in love with it also. No pressure to buy, no sales person breathing down your neck trying to make a sale. I had a great experience. I will be back soon to purchase our wedding bands. ?Thank you Farid and Aida.

It is said that you should be able to trust your jeweler as you do your doctor. ?Pat is your “Dr. Seki”! ?On the plus side, he is an excellent watchmaker.
This place is now called Miki Seki and is located across JVP on First Street. ?I’ve been coming here for years because TRUST is priceless when it comes to buying jewelry and repairing your valuables. ?There are many crooks in suits out there. ?Also, a simple battery replacement I did at another shop close by my house ended up screwing up the alignment of all the secondary hands on my chronograph watch. ?I ended up bringing the watch to Pat to get the watch realigned again. ?This is one of the few places I trust that will do the job right.
$10 to take out one link from a new watch really? I take it anywhere else and they do it for free. The really sad part is I was a repeat customer and they did this.
This is a tiny lil jewelry store smack in the center of downtown’s little tokyo area, just across the street from office depot. It’s actually inside the Honda Plaza, along with Sushi Gen Wholesale Costume Jewelry, Frances Bakery and Murasaki. ?This place is amazing. They can make you just about anything as long as you can describe to them what it is that you are looking for. The only things that they don’t really deal with are Palladium and Moissanite. (Moissanite should only be purchased from dealers of Charles & Colvard!!!)I have purchased many gifts from this store and continue to go there. They have made many specialized pieces for me and for my family. Their work is amazing and very inexpensive. I love their selection of pearls and I like that they are able to order any kind of ring or earing or pendant setting that I am looking for. Their staff is amazing and so friendly. There aren’t many people who work here so if there is another customer in the store, you may have to share a salesperson or just wait a few moments. Either way, you will not be disappointed. Their diamond quality is excellent and they can always order what ever it is that you want. Walter and I have spent many mornings in there lookin’ for gifts. =P
This is a cute little store which has been a family-owned business for decades. ?I have been going to Mickey Seki & Son all my life, and I will seriously cry if they ever quit. ?I would not trust anyone else to do my watch repair or jewelry cleaning. ?These people are honest, trust-worthy, reasonable freshwater Pearl Necklaces, and do a fantastic job. No fear of having your diamonds switched in the back room! ?Years ago, I had them make up a gold necklace charm with Chinese characters and it turned out beautifully. ?Also, I bring all my watches here to change batteries. ?From the small and mundane to the major jobs, they are highly trained, first-rate professionals who take pride in their work. They will treat you with the utmost courtesy no matter what you request of them. ?They also have discount prices on Seiko watches and clocks. ?Please note that since the last reviewer wrote, their location has moved to First Street in Little Tokyo. ?Okay, gather all those watches that don’t work and go there now!
